Senior Underwriting Consultant - Detroit, MI

Our client is a reputable carrier with an office located just outside of Detroit, Michigan. They are seeking an Underwriting Consultant to add to their staff.

In this role, you will:

• Utilize your extensive underwriting experience to provide consulting advice to underwriters and service staff

• Evaluate risks that exceed field authority and maintain profitability while adhering to corporate objectives

• Mentor and coach field staff on underwriting technique and analysis

• Review procedures and products and make recommendations for improvement

• Place all facultative reinsurance as necessary and negotiate terms and coverage in a timely fashion

To be qualified, you should have:

• 8+ years of underwriting expertise with an insurance carrier

• Proficiency understanding coverages, forms, exclusions and endorsements

• Ensure the Marketing Underwriters have complete understanding of forms and the impact they have on loss exposure

• Comprehend and communicate the various issues presented by the various states where business is conducted

• Develop relationships with reinsurers to negotiate and place necessary reinsurance

• Must have strong communication skills and the drive to train and mentor others
