WC Underwriter- New Orleans, LA
A National WC Carrier is expanding their New Orleans office and is looking for a solid Production Underwriter. Account sizes vary from middle market to large accounts. The company would prefer loss sensitive rating plan experience but it's not required. This position will involve Technical Underwriting as well as Marketing and building relationships with the Agency & Brokerage community. This company is already well established in Louisiana and the New Orleans office is their Hub for that region, thus excellent growth potential exists for individuals looking to advance their careers.
Additional Responsibilities
This person will be responsible for selecting, pricing and continually managing a book of new Workers' Compensation business to produce an underwriting profit while achieving a predefined objective of premium, renewal retention and new business production goal on mid-sized accounts. Underwrite larger and/or unique exposure accounts within assigned territory, assigned Brokers and premium size. Establish objectives for monitoring results during the year using company systems. Responsible for the management of all assigned Brokers and Producers. Participate in monitoring and analyzing performance of assigned agencies and initiate a plan of action based on performance data analysis. Perform all other broker related marketing or production activity as requested. Provide leadership role with other functional team members in the overall account management strategy.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications include 3-15+ years underwriting complex Workers’ Compensation accounts- either exclusively or in a Multi-Line environment
· Ability to make recommendations to management and to customize programs as needed.
· Strong background in Middle Market Accounts
· Knowledge of Loss Sensitive Accounts is a plus but not necessary
· Proven ability to create and build relationships with Brokers & Producers within a defined territory
· Knowledge of the Louisiana market will be extremely helpful
